Pietro Blaserna was born in Fiumicello, near Aquileja, on 1836.

His father, Matteo, was a hydraulic engineer and his mather was Caterina Dietrich (German).

He has been:

  • Assistant of Andreas von Ettinghausen at the University of Vienna (from 1856 to 1859)
  • Student of Experimental Physics at the Sorbone in Parigi
  • Professor of Physics at the Superior Institute in Firenze (1862)
  • Professor of Physics at the University of Palermo (1863)
  • Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Rome (1872)
  • Director of the Physics Institute in Rome (from 1873 to 1918)
  • Member of the Academy of Lincei (starting from 1873)
  • President of the Academy of Lincei (starting from 1904)
  • Co-founder of the Italian Society of Spectroscopysts
  • General segreatry of the International Commette of Measures (starting from 1904)
  • Senator of the Reign (1890)
  • President of the Senatus
Pietro Blaserna founded the "Physics Circle" of Rome on 1891.

Blaserna died in Rome on 1918.
