Theoretical Physics of Matter: computer simulations of condensed phases

Computational research on statistical models is also carried out. The purpose is to describe systems like molecular liquids, liquid crystals (also in nematic phase), or spin lattices. The research targets are related to predicting thermodynamical, structural and dynamical properties of solids, starting from given inter-particle interaction potentials, and taking into account macroscopic parameters such as temperature, density, pressure, and chemical potential, which allows to study possible phase transitions.

Among theoretical activities it is worth mentioning research, of more fundamental character, concerning general relativity and the electrodynamics of continuous material media.
