PhD End-of-Year seminars, 1-2 October 2020
The End-of-Year seminars of PhD students ending the first year (cycle 35)
and ending the second year (cycle 34) will take place on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October, simultaneously in aula 102 and online.
Programme of PhD End-of-Year seminars, 1-2 October
Onsite in aula 102 - Seminars will be given in aula 102 of the Physics Department. Audience can enter within the reduced limit of the room, namely 80 places.
Participants (speakers and audience) who attend in aula 102 must follow Covid safety rules, namely:
- Do not come to the Physics Dept if you have respiratory symptoms, or if you have been in contact with positive people in the last days.
- Measure your temperature at the Information Desk of the Physics Department (once per day).
- Follow the indications for entering and exiting the room.
- Register with your name at each session you participate (once per half day).
- Wear the mask except when giving the talk, staying at least 2 m away from the other persons.
- Maintain distancing from other people, sit only at the allowed seats in the room.
- Wash your hands frequently.
Online via Zoom - Seminars will be transmitted via the Zoom platform, the link and the password
will be sent by email to the Department mailing list a few days before the meeting.
Instructions for speakers - This is the first event that we organize at the Physics Department in mixed onsite/online mode,
so we all have to be careful in the procedures:
- You are expected to give your seminar onsite in aula 102, but you may also choose to give the seminar via Zoom. Please fill the doodle poll
you received by email, indicating your choice before September 25.
- Because of Covid rules, each speaker must use his/her own computer, connect it to the projector and to the network.
Please verify that you have all necessary hardware and software (e.g. VGA adapters, network cable, connection to Eduroam...).
The best is to test your computer in aula 102, verifying both the projector and the network connection, a few days before the meeting.
- The coordinator will open and host the Zoom meeting, you will have to connect to the meeting before starting the talk.
- Please give your talk by sitting at the desk, looking at your laptop (not at the screen).
Please use the laptop's mouse as a pointer. This way, you will address the audience both in the room and online.
- Please keep your presentation about 20 min long, strictly no more than 25 min. This will allow some time for questions and for switching between speakers.
For everybody - Questions can be asked onsite in the room and online via the microphone or the chat.
Questions and discussion are a key part of the sessions, making them lively. Enjoy the meeting!
